COVID-19 UPDATE: Please note that since the outbreak of COVID-19, Waste into Wellbeing has been running a very different operation to usual. Kendal People’s Cafe is currently closed and food bags are being distributed to those in need at three food shares around the town each. For full details, please visit our Facebook page. If you’re interested in volunteering during this time, we’re asking that you contact Trustee, Chris Rowley ( rather than signing up via the app as would be the norm.

Welcome to the home of Kendal Food Hub and Kendal People’s Cafe, two exciting projects delivered through Waste into Wellbeing, part of South Lakes Action on Climate Change.

About Us

Waste to Wellbeing is a volunteer led, social project at the heart of Kendal’s Food Community. Food from local supermarkets, shops and bakeries which would otherwise be destined for landfill is turned into nourishing meals, provided on a pay what you can basis, or is distributed to residents in need and community groups who support them.

Interested in volunteering?

We’re always looking for more volunteers to help us increase our regular collections from local food suppliers and extend our support to more people in need.

More volunteers would also allow us to increase the regularity of the People’s Cafes throughout the year and continue to provide more people with delicious wholesome meals when they need it most.

If you like what we do and have some spare time, whether it be a couple of hours a week, or a couple of hours a month, then take a look at our Volunteering page for more information.
