Helen and her partner Adam graze sheep in the orchards, meadows and pastures around Halecat in Witherslack. We use the fleece daggings to mulch the apple trees and fruit bushes. This year, they are being offered so little for the fleeces from the wool marketing board that they are looking for alternative options for selling the fleeces. SLACC members may be interested in buying fleece for their veg beds or fruit bushes.They are brilliant in a number of ways, help to irrigate the soil, feed the soil as they compost and slugs and snails hate the texture so helps to avoid the use of slug pellet chemicals.We are not currently certified organic but farm to organic principles.We are asking for £3 a fleece and can deliver locally.
